BV board approves hiring of new coach
The Berryville School Board officially approved the hiring of Doug Shott as head football coach at Berryville High School on Monday.
Shott was introduced to the public at a special called board meeting last Friday, but his hiring was not official until the board voted to approve at it Monday night’s regular meeting.
Shott has spent the past six years of a 21-year coaching career as the offensive coordinator at Hot Springs High School.
He replaces Austin Winters, who was reassigned as the school’s wrestling coach.
In Winters’ two seasons as head coach, the Bobcats compiled a record of 5-15. Berryville went 1-13 in 4A-1 conference play under Winters. The Bobcats’ 52-44 victory over Gentry last season was Berryville’s first conference victory since 2013.
