Green Forest still seeking coach
The Green Forest Tigers continue their search for a boys basketball coach. After Brandon Stone was re-assigned from the position in March, the Tigers fielded 36 applications and had conducted seven interviews through Thursday, April 13.
Green Forest Superintendent Matt Summers hopes to narrow that list down and is looking to hire a coach within the next couple of weeks.
"The plans are, as of today, are to bring two finalists and have a special called board meeting," Summers said. "It would be very similar to the way we hired Coach Bishop. Just have a meet and greet with players, parents and citizens while the other candidate is in the board meeting and then we would flip-flop candidates. And then, as a board, we would do something that night."
Athletic Director Bobby Bishop said he is pleased with the number of applications and the quality of applicants he has seen thus far.
"There were a lot of good candidates who didn't even get an interview, but when you have that many, you have to weed them down," Bishop said. "We narrowed them down, there might have been 14 or 15 left that we had interest in. We tried to pick the top seven and we interviewed them."
