GF allowing too many runs early
Pea Ridge only had five more hits than the Green Forest Tigers in Thursday evening's road loss. However, the Blackhawks outscored Green Forest, 13-0.
With Green Forest unable to reach base in the top of the first, the Blackhawks went to work in the bottom of the inning. With the bases loaded, A.J. Anderson hit a ground ball to second, which scored the first Pea Ridge run. Green Forest's Andrew Guzman singled to short in the top of the second, but was caught stealing to end the scoring threat.
With the Blackhawks leading 1-0 going into the bottom of the second, Jake Adams hit a three-run home run, giving Pea Ridge a 4-0 lead. Tyler Odell went on to steal home and a Tate Busey double to left scored two more runs. Pea Ridge drew a bases-loaded walk and an Adams single to short scored Busey, giving the Blackhawks a 9-0 lead going into the third inning.
Jakota Sainsbury singled to right, scoring Bradley Wright and Chandler Tidwell stole home, giving Pea Ridge an 11-0 lead. A Josh Rugger fly ball to right scored Sainsbury and Anderson scored on a Green Forest error, giving the Blackhawks a 13-0 lead. Dakota Grigg singled to start the fifth inning for Green Forest, but Pea Ridge didn't allow another base runner to get on.
Trey Curbow pitched two innings for Green Forest, striking out two. On Tuesday, Green Forest travels to Yellville-Summit. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
