Berryville first-graders write Christmas letters to recovering soldiers

Tuesday, December 27, 2016

In keeping with the true spirit of Christmas, several Berryville first-graders penned Christmas letters to recovering soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C.

First-grader Daisy Ballard explained: 'We wrote letters to the soldiers because instead of celebrating Christmas with their families, they will be in the hospital. I hope our letters will make them feel good and happy!'

The children wrote words of encouragement and sent holiday greetings from Arkansas.

"I told my soldier that I hope he's not on Santa's No No list, because the world is counting on him," reported 6-year-old Mason Bickel.

The children willingly spent a good part of their Christmas party day writing, editing, revising, and illustrating their greetings.

In summary, student Taylor Ward explained: "We made the soldiers Christmas cards so they won't feel alone for Christmas."
