PHILIP ALAN GREER, a resident of Green Forest, Arkansas, was born May13, 1949, in Berryville, AR to Richard and Bonnie (Rice) Greer.
Philip, backhoe extraordinaire, prince of Papas, aficionado of shenanigans and stunts, Harley hotshot, '57 Chevy consummate, martin house maestro and dog whisperer left this world on December 20, 2016 at the age of 67, doing exactly what he loved to do -- work.
Philip is survived by his mother, Bonnie Greer, of Berryville, one daughter, Kerri Breece and husband, Matt of Bentonville, AR; one son, Eric Greer and Janet Fultz Johnson, of Fayetteville, AR; three grandchildren, Dillon Greer of Green Forest, AR, Sophie Greer of Fayetteville and Jackson Breece of Bentonville; Two brothers, Jimmy Greer and wife, Barbara, of Green Forest, Bill Greer and wife, Debbie, of Green Forest; two sisters, Sue Lasater and husband, Bob, of Willard, MO, Sally Phillips and husband, Levi, of Berryville.
His love of work was surpassed only by his love for his kids and grandkids. Philip logged many miles and spent countless hours in bleachers, stands and audiences to be present for every ball game, event or special occasion in which any of them were involved.
Philip was preceded in death by his wife of forty years, Lana (Vowell) Greer and his father, Richard Greer.
Philip's everyman persona and generous spirit made him a friend to all. His work ethic and pride in a job well done were second to none. There will never be another like him and he will be missed dearly.
Gathering of remembrance with family and friends will be held from 5-7:00PM, Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Nelson's Green Forest Chapel, in Green Forest, AR. There will be no public funeral service. Memorial Donations may be made to Pickens Cemetery, C/O Anstaff Bank, PO Box 1900, Green Forest, AR 72638.
