Howard Clay Starkey, Jr., 91, of Mountain Home, Ark. passed away Nov. 26, 2016 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home.

He was born Nov. 28, 1924 in Harrison, Ark., the son of Howard, Sr. and Helen (Rogers) Starkey.

He was married to Helen Edith McLean on Aug. 15, 1946 and spent 68 years together before her death on Oct. 16, 2014.

Howard was a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1943-1946. He spent his career working for Arkansas Power & Light Co. at several locations including manager of the Berryville office from 1962-1967, ended with his retirement as manager in the Yellville division in 1986. He was a member of the Lions Club, past president of Berryville Rotary Club, 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He loved to hunt and fish. He especially enjoyed traveling to Mexico after his retirement to fish lakes there.

Survivors include his five children: Cynthia (Earl) McKinney of Berryville, Ark., Steve (Casey) Starkey of Mountain Home, Ark., Janet (Gary) Linn of Bethalto, Ill., David (April) Starkey of Mountain Home, Ark., Doug (Tammy) Starkey of Yellville, Ark; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 30 at Roller Funeral Home in Mountain Home.
