BV looks to pull an upset against Shiloh
After a 25-3 victory against Green Forest on Saturday, the Berryville Bobcats have reason to be riding high. The Bobcats have to get refocused quickly, though, as they travel to take on undefeated Shiloh Christian on Friday.
"We must take care of the ball, limit the big plays and take care of our assignments," Berryville coach Austin Winters said.
The Saints will pass the ball downfield, as quarterback Conner Reece threw for 2,622 yards and 24 touchdowns last season. He also ran for 283 yards and seven touchdowns. Shiloh Christian also returns two running backs who combined for 1,080 yards on the ground.
"They will take shots deep, but they will run the ball as well," Winters said. "We must know our responsibilities and tackle."
In last year's game against Shiloh Christian, Winters said the Bobcats were able to have successful drives against the Saints, but they had trouble closing drives. Winters said it's important the Bobcats finish those drives with points this year.
"We moved the ball on them last year, we just had trouble executing and finishing drives," Winters said. "Taking care of the ball is a must."
With the athletes Shiloh Christian has, Winters said its defense most closely resembles those of Harrison or Clinton.
"They have a lot of speed on that side of the ball," Winters said. "They have a lot of athletes and we have to be prepared for that."
Winters is glad the Bobcats got the win over Green Forest and he hopes that momentum will carry over into conference play.
"That win was big, that's for sure," Winters said. "We have to carry that momentum. We are 2-1, just like we were last year so it would be great to start out conference play with a win."
The Bobcats travel to Shiloh Christian on Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
