GF loses, Killingsworth seeing improvement
The Pea Ridge Lady Blackhawks defeated Green Forest 25-22, 20-25, 25-15, 25-18 on Thursday at Pea Ridge, but Green Forest coach Trista Killingsworth was very pleased with her team's performance.
"Even though they lost, it was the best match I have seen them play all year," Killingsworth said. "They had some great digs and I'm proud of the way they continue to improve."
The Lady Tigers kept things close in the first set, thanks in large part to Carolina Moreno. She had two kills and an ace. Jennifer Newberry had three digs. Senior Sloane Coffey helped Green Forest get the win in the second set. She had three digs to go along with two kills. Newberry had three more digs. America Martinez and Audrey Dickinson each had two digs in the second set. Cheyann Eagleson and Newberry each had four digs in the fourth set. Newberry finished the game with 10 digs, while Sloane Coffey had eight digs and three kills. Moreno had seven kills and an ace.
The schedule doesn't get any easier for the Lady Tigers, as they host Huntsville on Thursday.
"These tough matches will hopefully make us better when our district tournament rolls around," Killingsworth said. "The girls are playing with energy."
