There is a new church in town in Berryville.

El Centro Cristiano opened its doors last Saturday for the building's dedication and welcomed the congregation inside for the first service. The church is part of the Assembly of God denomination, and husband and wife Juan and Karen Rodriguez serve as pastors.

Juan Rodriguez said the church had small beginnings.

"This church started with four people using a fireworks tent behind McDonald's for about two months in 2008," he said.

The congregation eventually moved to another facility next to Church on the Hill, Rodriguez said, and recently completed construction on the new church building on Hailey Road.]"God provided and gifted us with this building. God is amazing," he said. "We are here to worship and praise our lord and savior and show the community the love of Jesus Christ."

Rodriguez said Centro Cristiano will have bilingual services in English and Spanish. Services take place at 10 a.m. on Sundays and 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

"Everyone is welcome," he said. "We are a growing church, and we welcome anyone to come be a part of our family."
