Bobcats ready to start the season
It's game week for the Berryville Bobcats and they could not be more excited to start the season on Friday night with a home game against Decatur. Coach Austin Winters expects the Bobcats to have things corrected from the Harrison scrimmage and hopes they are ready to play.
"On Monday we went over film a little bit and the Harrison quarterback, he ran on us a little bit when he shouldn't have," Winters said. "We just have to do what we do and make sure everybody knows their job and knows what they are supposed to do. Do our job and do it right is what we have been talking about all week."
Decatur returns a number of starters from a year ago, including the quarterback, running back and some wide receivers. Winters also said there are a number of sophomores who stand out to him.
"On film they look good," Winters said. "They are making plays so we will have to be ready to play."
The Bulldogs will be running a lot of the same offenses and defenses from a year ago, but Winters said the Bobcat defense will have to stay on its toes all night.
"They will spread it out and try to run it," Winters said. "They will run some screens. They will throw it deep, so we will have to be ready for a little bit of everything."
Lastly, Winters stressed the importance of starting the season off right with a win.
"It's very important to win the first game of the year," Winters said. "But if we want to do that, we have to be ready to play."
Berryville hosts Decatur at 7 p.m. on Friday.
