BV wraps up spring
The Berryville Bobcats didn't let a little bit of rain dampen their spirits as the spring football season came to an end with a scrimmage Thursday evening. After an hour delay, the festivities got under way and coach Austin Winters was pleased with what he saw.
"The kids played hard," Winters said. "We have things to work on, but we have improved since day one of spring. That is the main thing we were looking for and we saw it day be day."
One thing that plagued the Bobcats all year last year was turnovers. Winters was pleased to see how well the offense took care of the ball Thursday night.
"We were able to drive the ball down and score on our first possession," Winters said. "We dropped the ball in the end zone or we would have scored on two out of two possessions. So we were happy to see that."
Berryville's touchdown came from running back Jacob Graham. Winters said Graham, along with the rest of the Bobcat backfield, has improved tremendously as the spring went along.
"The backs ran hard," Winters said. "We were able to get positive yardage. We were happy to see that."
Winters said he was impressed with how the team had improved in the spring, but said the Bobcats have a long way to go over the summer.
"We are at the point where we can move on and add a few more things," Winters said. "The big thing is eliminating mistakes. We had a few penalties last night. It could have stopped the drive, but it didn't. We want to eliminate those as much as possible."
This summer, the Bobcats will host 7-on-7 camps in Berryville and travel to Harrison as well.
