A kind and loving man has earned his highest reward. Melvin Dwayne Lawrence, age 50, of Blue Eye passed from this life on April 28, 2016. He was born Mar. 4, 1966 in Harrison, Ark., to Wanda (Trantham) Lawrence Smith and the late Gerald Dean Lawrence.
Melvin attended Green Forest Schools and began his career as a farmer and rancher at a young age. He worked at Raymond Farms in Blue Eye. He loved antique cars, hunting, fishing, gardening, horseback riding, raising chickens and lawn mower races. He was a member of the State Line Cruisers. He was known for his mischievous nature and his great sense of humor. His grandchildren were the center-piece of his life and he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Tina Lawrence of Blue Eye; mother, Wanda Smith of Berryville; son, Alvin Lawrence and wife Kayla of Hindsville, Ark.; daughter, Brandy Huskey and husband Jason of Blue Eye; step-sons, Jeffrey Hansen of Blue Eye, Daniel Frost of Springfield, Mo.; sister, Diane Ketchelmeier and husband Kurt of Broken Arrow, Okla., grandchildren, Brandon, Katelynn, Madalynn, Braylee, Jace, Trinidy, Makayla, Jaydon; nephews, Matt Ketchelmeier and wife Andrea of Broken Arrow, Kyle Ketchelmeier of Broken Arrow; niece, Tracey Jones and husband Dave of Berryville, Robyn Phillips and husband Eddie of Alpena.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald Lawrence and one sister, Marilyn Davis.
Celebration Of Life will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2016 at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest. Pastor Junior Dotson will officiate with interment following at Blue Eye Cemetery.
