Floyds' Sales builds family tradition in Carroll County

Floyds' Sales, a local company in Berryville, Arkansas, has been a successful family owned and operated business specializing in metal building sales, construction and manufacturing for nearly 50 years. Dewitt Floyd, along with his wife Pauline established the business in 1969. Under Dewitt's ownership, every one of Dewitt's children had a hand in helping it to thrive. Dewitt's sons, Kelly, Phillip, Pete, and Stanley Floyd, worked alongside their father in constructing the buildings. Through the years, sons Frank, Phillip and Kelly also had a hand in managing the operations of the business. The females of the family were just as integral to the company's success. While wife Pauline made sure the company's bills were being paid and the accounts were taken care of, daughters Sheila Howerton and Robby Griggs, could have been found down in the shop making parts and working hard! Dewitt's eldest daughter, Paula Wilson, started helping to run the operations of the company in 1992.

Through years of commitment, hard work, and ingenuity, Floyds' Sales continue to flourish under Paula Wilson's capable hands. She definitely kept the heart of the "family business" by employing her own children, every one of them at one time or another, along with multitudes of grandkids! Both sons, Scott and Casey Wilson worked on the construction crews, while daughters Kerry Lynn, Shelley Summers, and Michelle Steiner worked in the office. Paula's husband, Joe Wilson worked on the construction crews through the years as well.

Currently the business is under a third generation owner, Scott Wilson, Paula's youngest son, and Scott's wife Bekah. Scott is hoping to honor the legacy of his Grandpa and his Mother by not only keeping Floyds' Sales successful, but by implementing new and modern ideas. Scott has expanded his family's company in many ways; one such expansion was to create the building system that he has named "Duratruss." With this new system, Floyds' Sales now has the capability to not only meet the needs of agricultural and light residential metal building needs such as shops, garages, and hay barns, but it allowed expansion into light commercial buildings, churches, custom residential homes, and allowed for them to provide more affordable structures without sacrificing quality. Another exciting improvement is the addition of Floyds' new computer aided drafting team, including Stanley Floyd's son-in-law, Shane Farmer and Joshua Mann. This program can design the buildings from start to finish. Along with the new innovations, Scott is proud to have his uncle, Stanley Floyd, with over 40 years of expertise, still out there constructing the buildings. Scott's commitment and love for the business is only surpassed by that he has for his family.

Scott's wife, Bekah, helps with the accounting and financial aspects of the company. She stated, "Although I would have never imagined myself owning a construction company, being that my college degree is in theatre, I am honored to a part of this company that has been in Scott's family for nearly 50 years. I am so proud of my husband and his commitment to making this company thrive; I believe his Grandpa would have been proud." Bekah is still dedicated to the arts and directs plays for North Arkansas College, the Theatre Company of the Ozarks, and the Ozark Arts Council. She is also currently an acting teacher at Elite Dance Studios where she is directing Elite's very first musical, "The Little Mermaid Jr." in April.

Scott and Bekah's children, Gavin and Eden Wilson, are no strangers to hard work and keeping busy. Both children are on the competition team at Elite Dance Studios and take, on average, 12 hours of regular dance classes per week with the addition of countless hours of private lessons. They have both been in plays since they could walk and share their mother's love for the theatre. Gavin also loves playing football for the Berryville Bobcats, running track, and singing in the school choir. Bekah states, "I couldn't be any more proud of my two kids. They have amazing grades even though they are extremely busy and are so self-motivated in all that they do. They are well-rounded kids who have a joy for life, and live it to the fullest, what more could I want?" Both kids have grown up at the company, just like so many other kids from the Floyds' family, and Gavin is looking forward to his first summer job, of course, here at Floyds' Sales.

Scott and Bekah feel very fortunate that the community has shown them and their entire family so much support through the years.
