Reed A. Nichols, of Alpena, died on Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Veteran's Home in Fayetteville. He was 80 years old.
Visitation will start at 12:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Dunkard Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. both on Thursday, March 10. Brother Bud Byerley will officiate.
The son of Roy and Lillian (Couch) Nichols was born on September 12, 1935 at Proctor, OK.
Reed was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was the owner and operator of Nichols Tree Service. He enjoyed small engine repair and was a member of the American Legion. Reed also enjoyed buying, selling, and trading different items.
His parents; and one son, Clifford Nichols preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Diane Nichols, of Alpena; one son, Dean Nichols, of Oklahoma City, OK; five daughters, Barbara Nichols, Cindy Stewart and husband, James, Melisa Kilpatrick and husband, Donnie, all of Fayetteville, Evelyn Doss and husband, Roy, of Prairie Grove, AR, and Debra Nichols, of Alma, AR; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and two brothers, Ray Nichols, of Baton Rouge, LA and Wally Nichols, of El Dorado, TX.
