GF school board extends administrators' contracts
Green Forest School District administrators can rest easy.
The Green Forest School Board extended the contracts for all the district's administrators for the 2016-17 school year Monday night. Superintendent Matt Summers said the board also extended the contracts for Eddie Phillips, transportation supervisor, and Shelly Fultz, food service director.
Summers said the board agreed to move the $2,500 William Lamb Scholarship Endowment into the Green Forest Educational Foundation. Each year, Summers explained, a senior receives a $300 scholarship from the endowment.
"It's makes perfect sense to shift it to the educational foundation," Summers said.
The board agreed to purchase a 2011 53-passenger bus from American Bus Sales for $59,900. The bus, Summers said, will be delivered in July or August.
"The funds will come from the 2016-17 budget," Summers said.
Summers gave a construction update, saying the property on Rowlett Street has been demolished. The district, he added, plans to complete its purchase of the Reliable Poultry Building soon.
"It will be any day now," Summers said.
The board approved a purchase service contract with the Family Psychological Center in Harrison. The center, Summers said, is the district's special education testing group.
The board also approved a graduation policy and a school improvement policy, as well as the district's professional development plan.
Fundraisers for Beta Club, yearbook and Gifted and Talented were approved.
The board's next regular meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday, March 21.
