Big blast

Friday, February 19, 2016
A few small puffs of smoke were the prelude to 6,000 tons of rock heaving 15 feet into the air before falling back down into a mound of earth and rocks of various sizes. The blast was to create a trench for the relocation of the sewer line south of Southern Heights subdivision on Arkansas 221 in Berryville. The rock blasting was performed by Dykon of Tulsa. The contractor for the sewer project is Berryville's Heavy Constructors. The sewer relocation is part of the reconstruction of the Huntsville Road/McKennon Street intersection.
