BARBARA JEAN OWENS, a resident of Berryville, Arkansas, was born September 24, 1946 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, a daughter of Gene Wallace and Alice Faye (Brady) Barker. She departed this life Sunday, January 31, 2016 in Rogers, Arkansas with family by her side, at the age of 69 years.

Barbara was a full time homemaker and worked as secretary for the First Baptist Church in Berryville for several years. When her youngest son entered school she went to work as a secretary for the Berryville Public School system where she worked for 28 years. During her working years and even into retirement she enjoyed planning luncheons and activities for co-workers and church groups. She was an active member of Southern Heights Baptist Church and enjoyed organizing activities for the Senior Adult SALT group. She loved to travel and listen to gospel music. But, most of all she loved spending time with her family. To her family and friends she will always be known for her unconditional love, loyalty, friendship and warm smile.

On September 03, 1967, Barbara was united in marriage with James L. Owens who survives her of the home. She is also survived by son, Michael Owens and wife Kimberly of Bentonville; daughter, Rebecca and husband Danny Scroggins of Berryville; son, Stephen Owens of Berryville; mother, Alice Barker of Berryville; nine grandchildren, Michaela Owens, Reagan Owens, Austin Scroggins and wife Kayla, Andrew Scroggins, Alyvia Scroggins, Morgan Owens, Bailey Owens, Evan Owens, and Eli Owens; 3 great-grandchildren, one niece, two nephews and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Gene Barker; brother, Jimmy Barker; and sister Wanda Faye Johns.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday, February 05, 2016 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville. Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 06, 2016 at Southern Heights Baptist Church, Berryville, with Reverend Jerry Spurlock and Reverend Dean Smith officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Berryville Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
