Bobcats find success in Gentry
The last time the Berryville Bobcats were in a wrestling tournament, things didn't go so well, as they lost six of seven matches. The Bobcats were hoping to turn things around on Saturday in Gentry, and they did. The Bobcats faced five opponents and went 4-1.
"I'm proud of our boys, they wrestled tough," Berryville coach Matt Ferguson said.
In Berryville's first match, they defeated Shiloh Christian, 45-18. The Bobcats then defeated Little Rock McClellan, 34-28. Berryville suffered its only loss against Springdale, 42-25. Ferguson was disappointed the Bobcats were unable to get that victory.
"I don't want to say I was a little bit disappointed, but we beat Springdale the other day and then they turned around and beat us," Ferguson said. "They might have had a few more guys this week, but I mean overall I thought we wrestled well."
Berryville defeated Gentry, 42-16. In the final match, the Bobcats defeated Fayetteville, 36-22.
Individual results are as follows:
126: Ethan King finished first.
138: Joseph Toring finished third.
145: Keaton Hoft finished second.
152: Kris Grile finished first.
182: Christian Lemus finished third.
285: Garrett Record finished first.
The Bobcats will practice three times this week before going to the Diamond State Duals at Springdale Har-Ber next Tuesday and Wednesday. Ferguson said this will be a great chance for the Bobcats to see some quality competition.
"There will be a bunch of teams from Oklahoma there," Ferguson said. "A few from Missouri and then some Arkansas teams as well. The one I am most excited about is Greenbrier because we will see them at state. That will give us a good chance to see what they have."
