18-year-old arrested in church burglary

An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a burglary at Towering Oaks Church on Highway 62 West in Berryville, according a press release from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.

According to the release, Trevor Schanke was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 16, after admitting his involvement to CCSO investigators.

"On Dec. 12, church staff reported a broken window at the church," the release said. "Surveillance video showed a young white male inside the church building, after hours without authorization, and his vehicle on the parking lot. Once photos from the video were released to the public, numerous individuals identified the suspect as Trevor Schanke.

"On Dec. 16, CCSO investigators located Schanke, and brought him to the sheriff's office for interview," the release continued. "Schanke admitted his involvement during the interview. Investigators arrested him and booked him into the Carroll County Detention Center on a felony charge of Commercial Burglary. Bond has no yet been set for Schanke."
