Clay Maxey Ford of Berryville is open for business.

The former Berryville Ford officially changed hands on Monday, Dec. 7, as Maxey took ownership. A grand opening is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 22.

Maxey, who owns Clay Maxey Ford and Clay Maxey Motorsports in Harrison as well as a pre-owned car dealership in Springdale, said he is excited to have a presence in Berryville.

"I just like the opportunity," Maxey said by phone Monday. "It's a good community. I felt like there was a town I wanted to be a part of."

New signage has already gone up at the dealership and inventory has been expanded.

"You've got to have 'em to sell 'em," Maxey said. "We've tried to ramp up the inventory and the variety, both with new and pre-owned. Hopefully that will attract some people."

Maxey said most of the former staff remains in place at the dealership.

"We've tried to hold on to everybody," he said.

Berryville Mayor Tim McKinney said he has heard good things about Maxey's impact on Harrison and is glad to see him expand into

Berryville.

"We're looking forward to it," McKinney said Monday. "I was talking to a friend and he said (Maxey) has been really good for Harrison. We're looking forward to having him here."

While Maxey obviously hopes his business in Berryville is a success, he said he also looks forward to the opportunity to give back.

"We're just excited to a part of the community," he said.
