BERRYVILLE -- The Berryville Bobcats hosted Gentry and Mountain Home on Tuesday for their first dual meet of the season. The Bobcats handled Gentry, defeating the Pioneers 60-18. Mountain Home proved to be a much more difficult opponent, but Berryville came out on top, 42-40.

"Overall our guys wrestled real well," Berryville coach Seth Record said. "We lost some matches we shouldn't have, but that is going to happen. We are real rusty. All we need is more mat time."

Record added that once his wrestlers get in the right weight class, they will improve tremendously.

"Most of our guys will be going down in weight," Record said. "It will make a big difference when a kid is at 160 (pounds) instead of 152 (pounds). Our guys are working hard and I am real pleased with the results of tonight."

The results of the Mountain Home match are as follows:

106: Berryville's Noah Forke pinned Isaac Brunet.

113: Mountain Home's Damon Morgavan pinned Blaine Nelson.

170: Mountain Home's Keith Deen pinned Robert Allen.

182: Mountain Home's Peyton Edington scored a major decision over Christian Lemus.

Even though Lemus lost, Record said this was the key match to Berryville's victory.

"He gets out there and is about to get pinned, but he won't give it up," Record said. "He fought off his back and only gave up four points instead of six. That was the difference in the match."
