Mercy Hospital Berryville Auxiliary members prepared and served a luncheon to active volunteers in the organization on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Freeman Heights Baptist Church.

Guests at the luncheon included Douglas Stroemel, new Mercy Hospital Berryville administrator, and his wife Norma; Jerry Berley, past president of the Arkansas Hospital Auxiliary Association (AHAA); Dorothy Berley, president of AHAA; and Margaret Underwood, president-elect of AHAA.

Following the buffet luncheon, each volunteer received a gift bag.

For the past six months, volunteers have donated 12,326.5 hours. Volunteers serve in the surgery waiting area, patient information desk, gift shop and the auxiliary's thrift store in Green Forest, as well as providing items for bake sales and other activities.

This year, the auxiliary has provided $5,000 in scholarships to first-year students interested in entering the field of medicine. A new second-year scholarship also provided three students $1,000 each.
