Junior Bobcats drop season finale to Huntsville
The Berryville junior high football team wanted to end the season with a win Monday evening against the Huntsville Eagles, but came up short in a 24-14 loss.
Huntsville scored first, getting a 7-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. The two-point conversion failed. Huntsville added six more points early in the second quarter, as the Eagles completed a 51-yard pass for a touchdown. Again, the two-point conversion failed. Berryville's Tristan Updegraff returned the ensuing Huntsville kickoff 75 yards for a score. Armando Mojica kicked the extra point. The Bobcats gave up one more touchdown before halftime, though, as the Eagles connected on a 33-yard pass completion for the touchdown. The two-point conversion failed, making it 18-7 at halftime.
Huntsville scored on a 10-yard run in the third quarter. The two-point conversion failed. Berryville scored the final points of the evening in the fourth quarter. Kooper Logan took a handoff from the Huntsville 2 and got in for the touchdown. Mojica kicked the extra point.
Logan completed 7 of 13 passes for 66 yards. Issac Brown had 37 yards rushing on seven carries while Updegraff had 34 yards on six carries and Christian Lemus had 21 yards on seven carries. Updegraff had two receptions for 24 yards while Lemus had two receptions for 21 yards and Ethan Gregory had two receptions for 11 yards. Logan had five tackles while Lemus and Keeton Disheroon each had four and Wyatt Poe had three. Mojica had an interception.
