Veterans Day events planned throughout county
Carroll County residents certainly know how to celebrate Veterans Day.
Various organizations in Berryville, Eureka Springs, Green Forest and Alpena have planned events honoring veterans. The Alpena School District will begin celebrating at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6. Alpena students are hosting a tribute to veterans in the gym, followed by a lunch for veterans their guests.
The American Legion Post 9 of Eureka Springs will host several events over the weekend honoring veterans, starting with a treasure hunt co-hosted by Angler's Bar and Grill. The hunt will begin at the restaurant at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7. Pig Trail Harley-Davidson of Eureka Springs will host a hamburger cook-off in the Pine Mountain Village parking lot at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9. It will cost $5 to sample hamburgers and get a drink. All proceeds from these events will benefit The American Legion Post 9.
Club 169 Grub and Pub in Eureka Springs will host a Veterans Ball at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10. The Green Forest American Legion Hut will host a Veterans dinner later at 6 p.m. that night for all veterans and their families.
Many events are scheduled countywide for Wednesday, Nov. 11.
Eureka Springs' annual Veterans Day parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. Lineup will begin at 9 a.m., and the parade will start at the library on Spring Street.
American Legion Posts throughout the county will host a ceremony and rifle salute at 11:11 a.m. Following the salute, Pied Piper Pub in Eureka Springs will host a meet and greet for veterans.
The Berryville School District will host several assemblies. Berryville Intermediate School will hold the first assembly at 8:30 a.m., where breakfast will be served to veterans in attendance. Berryville High School will hold its Veterans Day assembly at 11:15 a.m. in the high school gym; Berryville students will provide a lunch for veterans after the assembly. Berryville Middle School will hold its assembly at 12:15 p.m., and students have been asked to invite family members or family friends who are veterans to attend.
Berryville Elementary School will hold an assembly at 2 p.m. in Bobcat Arena.
The Green Forest School District will hold an assembly at 10 a.m., offering a meal for veterans and their families following the assembly.
Eureka Springs High School will hold an assembly at 2:25 p.m. Eureka Springs middle and elementary school students will attend the annual parade in the morning.
