BV's Allen 19th at state
Berryville's Ty Allen competed at the 4A state golf tournament at Cooper's Hawk Golf Club in Melbourne on Tuesday and shot an 84. That was good enough for a 19th-place finish.
Berryville coach Brent Compton said he was very proud of the way Allen played.
"Yesterday was his best match of the season," Compton said. "He finished 19th out of 72 golfers. Cutoff for making all-state was 81, so he came real close to making all-state as a sophomore."
Compton said Allen made tremendous improvements this season and he believes Allen can continue to make strides to better his game over the next two seasons.
"He gained a lot of experience by going to the state tournament this year," Compton said. "It means that he is a good golfer first of all, but he still has room to improve. He has a great work ethic and is going to put the time in to get better and I expect an even better year next season."
