Challenger wins seat on Berryville board

The Carroll County Election Commission released the unofficial results of the county's 2015 school election Tuesday night.

In Berryville, unofficial results had Tyler Ashworth defeating incumbent Todd Howard for the Zone 2 seat with 172 votes (83 percent). Howard received 35 votes (17 percent), according to the unofficial totals.

Chad Hipps ran unopposed for re-election to his Zone 1 seat and received 19 votes. Voters also approved continuing the school district's millage by a vote of 161-119.

In Eureka Springs, unofficial results had incumbent Gayla Wolfinbarger defeating challenger Martin E. Martinek for the Position 3 seat. Unofficial results showed Wolfinbarger receiving 132 votes (85 percent). Martinek received 23 votes (15 percent) according to the unofficial totals.

Board president Jason Morris ran unopposed for re-election to his Position 4 seat and received 127 votes. Voters also approved continuing the school district's millage by a vote of 93-54.

In Green Forest, unofficial results had incumbent Peggy A. James defeating Tim Howard for the Position 1 seat with 139 votes (67 percent). Howard received 67 votes (33 percent) according to the unofficial totals.

Secretary Jerry D. Carlton ran unopposed for re-election to his Position 3 seat and received 45 votes. Voters also approved continuing the school district's millage by a vote of 131-72.

The Carroll County Election will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, in the county clerk's office in Berryville to review any provisional ballots and certify the election results.
