Berryville gets big win in Heber Springs
Heber Springs, the defending 4A state boys cross country champions in the boys cross country division, has been dethroned on their home course by the Berryville Bobcats, who won Tuesday's meet at Heber Springs.
The Green Forest Tigers also beat the Panthers to the finish line, finishing second. West Side High School finished third, followed by Heber Springs. Berryville's Oliver Perez finished first with a time of 17:18 while teammates Andrew Galicia finished third at 18:14.3 and Elijah Smith finished fourth at 18:42.5. Green Forest's Gabriel Ramos finished fifth at 18:43.6 and teammate Carlos Lemus finished 11th at 19:35.3. Jacob Thompson finished 13th for the Tigers at 19:42.3 while Ashley Henley finished 14th at 19:46.1. Patrick Hunter of Green Forest finished 17th at 20:03.3 and teammate Jose Mendez finished 20th at 20:12.6. Berryville's Brandon Kruzan finished 23rd at 20:24.0 and Green Forest's Jose Lozano finished 27th at 20:35.5. Rafael Rosales of Green Forest finished 31st at 20:48.9 and Berryville's Dakota Hurt finished 32nd at 20:57.3. Green Forest's Rodrigo Lopez finished 37th at 21:06.2 and teammate Vincente Vega finished 38th at 21:08.2. Jacob Johnson of Berryville finished 39th at 21:14.2 while teammate Jamos Warren finished 40th at 21:16.6 and Thomas Trowbridge of Berryville finished 49th at 21:46.
The Berryville Lady Bobcats won the girls division as well. Alysa Dohm of Des Arc won with a time of 22:34.1 and Berryville's Samantha Preston finished fourth at 23:35.7. Bethany Kruzan finished seventh at 24:28.5 for Berryville while Green Forest's Yolanda De Los Santos finished at 25:09.9. Berryville's Cecilia Flores finished 22nd at 26:34.3 and teammate Claira Watson finished 31st at 27:34.8. Melanie Berinstein finished 33rd for Berryville at 27:36.8 while teammate Juanita Vilatoro finished 38th at 28:11 and Green Forest's Andrea Lopez finished 41st at 28:23.3.
