Lady Tigers improve throughout summer
The Green Forest girls basketball team competed in its final team camp of the year over the weekend at Rolla, Mo., and coach Kyle Farrar said he is very proud of the way the Lady Tigers performed.
"It was a three-day camp that started on Thursday," Farrar said. "I felt like we played really well on that first day. That second day, we hardly played a game, but our best game came in the final game on Saturday."
Green Forest lost that game by seven points, but Farrar said that was an improvement from the two teams' first meeting.
"We played them on Thursday and got blown out of the gym," Farrar said. "We executed really well on the offensive end that second time around and some of the things they did offensively, we were able to make adjustments, and those adjustments worked."
The camp hosted teams from Kansas, Iowa, Tennessee and Missouri. Farrar said it is great that his team was able to play against schools from other states.
"It is a great experience for these kids," Farrar said. "They are able to make friends from far away, or recognize them from Facebook from the year before."
Farrar said the camp was very well-run.
"There are a ton of schools that come here," Farrar said. "But they don't match up the really big schools versus the smaller schools. There is no preconceived notion as to how good everyone is when they get here."
Farrar said as a whole, this has been a great summer and he is looking forward to the coming year.
"I feel as though we have improved tremendously throughout the summer," Farrar said. "I think it will be a good year for us."
