Mary Tryphena Wilson Anderson

Mary Tryphena Wilson Anderson, a resident of Green Forest, Arkansas, she was born February 11, 1918 the daughter of Wass & Tina Wilson. She was born on the Century & One half old Wilson Family farm south of Green Forest, AR. Also, she is the granddaughter of Tryphena (Wilson) Fancher, surviving child of the Mountain Meadows Massacre on September 11, 1857, (the first 9-11).

On October 23, 1934 she was united in marriage with Luke Anderson by Reverend Jess Powell. After their marriage they moved to the Yocum Community, making their home there until 1953. Then they moved to the Coin Community to expand their cattle operation. In 1979 they moved to Green Forest after Luke's health problems. He passed away in 1997.

Mary was baptized in 1973 and became a member of the Green Forest Assembly of God Church. In later years she attended Trinity Freewill Baptist and the Calvary Church of Green Forest. She was a homemaker and an expert seamstress. She worked side by side with Luke in their cattle operation. Mary was always very active and worked very hard. While living in the Yocum Community one of her favorite pastimes was fishing Yocum creek with daughters, Billye, Bobbye, Carmel Stafford, & Betty E. Lee. After retirement to Green Forest she spent many enjoyable hours volunteering at the Mercy Hospital Thrift Shop, she was most proud of the pink smock, which is still in her closet. She served on the Pickens Cemetery Board for many years. As long as driving permitted; daily she went to pick up trash and see that things were in order. She was a member of the Brawley Ladies Club. Also, she was a member of the Founding Families of Green Forest January 1895 (Butt & Harbert). She was quite a good Historian of Green Forest. She and Luke were huge Green Forest Basketball Fans. She loved everything about Green Forest, spending her entire life in Carroll County, except for the last year and a half that she couldn't care for herself. She lived with daughter, Bobbye (Chas) Bunch of Albany, MO. She missed Green Forest and especially going to the Green Forest Livestock Auction every Wednesday and going to Jims Drive In for a burger and ice cream.

She is survived by two daughters, Billye Sue Roberts & husband James of Green Forest, AR; Bobbye Lou Bunch & husband Charles of Albany, MO; grandchildren, Suellen Butler & husband Rusty of Green Forest, AR; Louann Smith & husband Steve of Green Forest, AR; Maribeth Kimber & husband Dave of Springdale, AR; Janelyn Roberts & Roger Pringnitz of Springdale, AR; Debra Bouge and husband Gary of Nashville, TN; Staci Bunch of Albany, MO; Dan Bunch & wife Pam of Hayesville, NC great grandchildren, Ali Reis & Pete of Nashville, TN; Kylan Luke, Reagan & Addison; B.J & JR Butler, Buffy Howle & husband Clint; Phylicia Studyvin & husband Trevor; Jerod Doss & wife Kayla, Jacob Doss & wife Kiesha; great great grandchildren, Billy Jack Butler, Carson & Claire Howle, Adalee & Emmarae Doss, Parker & Piper Studyvin, Hunter & Perry Doss, several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luke Anderson. She is also preceded by parents, Wass & Tina Wilson, brothers, Auburn (Vinnie) Wilson, Jeff (Corrine) Wilson. One great grandson, James Elmore, one niece Linda Wilson Smalley.

Visitation will be 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM, Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Nelson's Green Forest Chapel. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Nelson's Green Forest Chapel with Bro. Jerry Scitern officiating.
