Fourth of July events scheduled in Carroll County
Several organizations in Carroll County will be celebrating the Fourth of July this weekend.
The Holiday Island Suburban Improvement District (HISID) will kick off the festivities with a pool party Friday, July 3, at the Holiday Island Recreation Center. The party will be held from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., offering food, entertainment and door prizes. Tickets will cost $15 per person at the door, with free admission for children under 3.
There are several events scheduled for Saturday, July 4. The Carroll County Senior Activity and Wellness Center at 202 W. Madison Ave. in Berryville will host a Fourth of July celebration from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with live music and food. The food includes hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw and Jell-O.
The Good Shepherd Animal Shelter in Eureka Springs will host an open house celebration from noon
to 4 p.m. at 6486 Highway 62 East. There will be a special $25 adoption special for large adult dogs and adult cats.
The city of Eureka Springs will celebrate the city's founding at Basin Spring Park from noon to 2 p.m. There will be birthday cake and a reading of the township proclamation. A Fourth of July parade will follow the celebration at 2 p.m. in downtown Eureka Springs.
The Holiday Island Country Club will also start its
Independence Day celebration beginning at 2 p.m. at the recreation center. There will be live music, bounce houses, games for all ages, food and drink, arts and crafts and fireworks at dusk. The event is sponsored by several area businesses.
The Carroll County Fair Board will sponsor a truck and tractor pull from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. The admission fee is $10 per person.
According to fair board member Don Foster, the event will feature some of the "biggest and baddest" trucks and tractors in the region.
"We will pause the truck action for the Fire on the Mountain and will resume the competition and action when the fireworks end," Foster said.
Fire on the Mountain, the annual Fourth of July fireworks show in Berryville, will take place around 9 p.m. The fireworks display is shot from Saunders Heights Overlook, high above the city.
The city of Green Forest will host a Patriots' Day celebration a week after July 4. The celebration will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at the city park. Games like the egg toss and turtle race will begin at 2 p.m. There will be a water slide and a bounce house for children throughout the day.
Tyson Foods and the First Assembly of God Church will offer free food at 5 p.m., with a fireworks show held later that night.
Mayor Charles Reece said the event is taking place a week after July 4 to extend the holiday for the citizens of Carroll County.
"People around the county can come in and see fireworks again," Reece said.
