John Varner, 50, of Green Forest, AR passed away in his home on Wednesday, June 17, 2015. He was born June 7, 1965 in Torrence, Calif. to Bob Varner and Joyce (Jobe) Varner.
John moved with his family to the Green Forest area in 1969 and attended school at Green Forest. He worked at a number of jobs including Tysons Foods and Bentonville Airport (Regional Jet Center) in maintenance. He was an avid Raiders football fan and loved watching sports, especially football games. In his free time he enjoyed barrel racing, riding horses, motorcycles, taking his boat to the lake and being outside. John was proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife Gaylene of the home; mother, Joyce Kolb of Green Forest; two brothers, Truman Varner of Bartlesville, Okla. and Gary Varner of Holiday Island; one sister, Vickie Varner of Green Forest; granddaughter, Iris Still; two nephews, Daniel and Austin Varner; and two nieces, Jamie Merten and Stevie Varner. He is also survived by his step-children, Beth Walker of Washington, Jamie Creekmore of Sprindale and Clayton Creekmore of New Orleans, La.
John was preceded in death by his father, Bob Varner; maternal grandparents, Floyd and Evelyn Jobe and paternal grandparents, Truman and Jewell Varner.
Memorial service will be Sunday at 4:00 p.m., June 21, 2015 at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest.
