Jon Davidson Oeflein, in back, and his mother Jean Davidson.

Jean Davidson, at a book signing at the new Eureka Springs Harley-Davidson shop. Jean is the granddaughter of Walter Davidson, one of the founders of the iconic American motorcycle company. She and Jon were in Eureka Springs for appearances at Books In Bloom and the H-D store. She is the author of several books, including "Growing Up Harley Davidson (Memoirs of a Motorcycle Dynasty) among others. Jean doesn't remember her first ride on a motorcycle but does remember her first solo ride. I was 12-years-old and always wanted a horse, begging my dad for one. In 1949 he came home on a big, black Harley-Davidson and said 'There's plenty of horses here, pointing to the bike. Get on' he said," recalling the incident with a smile. "So I got on and went full speed into a lake across from the house," she says. "Mom came running out of the house screaming at day... who was rolling on the ground laughing (at the scene)."
