Malcolm C. Calhoun
MALCOLM C. CALHOUN, a resident of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, was born August 13, 1924 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, a son of Ezra Angus and Claire Irene (Brown) Calhoun. He departed this life Friday, May 15, 2015 in Hot Springs, Arkansas, at the age of 90 years.
Malcolm proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corp as a 1st Lieutenant and as a pilot flying an A26 twin engine attack bomber plane in World War II. In 1947, he became a charter member of the 178th Fighter Squadron in the North Dakota National Guard. He graduated from North Dakota Agricultural College with a degree in Architectural Engineering. Malcolm owned Calhoun Contracting Company and worked as the general contractor for twenty-four years in the St. Louis area. He was a member of the Holiday Island Presbyterian Church and had a passion for Jazz music.
One of his proudest accomplishments was being a family man and...on June 09, 1945, Malcolm was united in marriage with Yvonne Frances (Brumm) Calhoun who survives him of the home. He is also survived by four daughters, Corine and husband Bob Egendoerfer of Bryant, AR, Jeanne and husband Tim Huffman of Poplar Bluff, MO, Sarah Calhoun and Jeff Muehlberg of Imperial, MO, and Melissa and husband Lee Marschel of Saint Genevieve, MO; son-in-law, Stan White of Hot Springs Village, AR; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; extended family and a host of friends and loved ones.
Malcolm was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Claire Calhoun, one daughter, Elizabeth White and one sister, Margaret Hurdelbrink.
Private interment will be in the Eureka Springs Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 18, 2015 at the Holiday Island Presbyterian Church with Reverend Leslie Belden officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Leader Dogs for the Blind, 1039 S.
