Bobcats' season ends in disappointment
The Berryville Bobcats lost 12-2 to Prairie Grove on Friday in Huntsville, bringing an end to their season.
To make things worse, the Bobcats were on the wrong side of Logan Gragg's no-hitter.
The Bobcats led the game through the first inning. A Seth Helmlinger walk loaded the bases and Thomas Trowbridge scored on a passed ball. Robby Broseus scored on a fielder's choice.
In the bottom of the second, with a runner on third, the Tigers scored on a fielder's choice, but a ground ball to left kept the Bobcats ahead 2-1.
"We started off playing well," Berryville coach David Broseus said. "We just couldn't sustain it."
The Tigers scored another run off a fielder's choice in the bottom of the third to tie the game at two.
The game got out of hand for Berryville in the bottom of the fourth when the Bobcats gave up five runs. The Tigers scored all five runs on four doubles.
"We just had way too many errors defensively," Broseus said. "It is what really plagued us all year."
After Berryville failed to get anybody on base in the top of the fifth, Prairie Grove scored five more runs in the bottom of the fifth, putting the 10-run sportsmanship rule into effect.
Berryville finished the season 6-14.
