Carroll Co. Tournament starts Friday
After a snow-covered first week of March, the Carroll County Baseball Tournament will finally begin this weekend. Originally, it was supposed to be a three day tournament, but now it has been shortened to two, with Berryville hosting games on Friday and Green Forest hosting games on Saturday.
"It just wouldn't fit everyone's schedule," Tournament Director Tony Coffey said. "We are still going to get it in and that's what counts."
On Friday, Berryville will host Bergman at 4 p.m. Following that, the Bobcats will take on Green Forest at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the tournament shifts to Green Forest, and the rules shift a little bit as well.
"It will be a 90 minute game format, but when they come up to bat they will have a two ball and one strike count," Coffey said. "Theoretically, your pitcher can throw two pitches and be done. It also puts pressure on the batter to swing the bat, which all of us want."
