Green Forest plans employee raises
The city of Green Forest will give merit-based raises to city employees in 2015. Mayor Charles Reece discussed this wage increase at the city's annual budget meeting Dec. 16.
The raises, he said, will be based on performance reviews. Reece said the raises will vary in percentage based on employee performance.
"I think we've been more than fair with our raises this year," he said. "I don't understand not giving employee reviews. That's something the county should do."
The city's proposed 2015 budget projects total revenues of $1,821,500 and total expenses of $1,604,395, leaving a surplus of $217,105. Reece praised the proposed budget, saying the city is in better shape than last year.
"I feel good about where we are financially," the mayor said. "I suspect the city's probably in the best financial shape of the last 10 years."
He added that he would be working to finalize the proposed budget before the next city council meeting, slated for 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13. The council, he said, will vote on the proposed budget at that meeting.
