Controlling tempo is key for Tigers
The Green Forest Tigers don't have a lot of size this season. In fact, Coach Brandon Stone joked that the Tigers don't have a single player over six feet tall on their 21-man roster.
"You know if we have to go up against a bunch of seven-footers, these guys are going to get hammered," Stone said. "They aren't used to that kind of size."
To compensate for their lack of size, the Tigers are hoping to play at a tempo that will force their opponents into uncomfortable situations.
"Our goal is going to be to speed the other team up and force turnovers," Stone said. "Then when we have the ball, slow it down and take good, quality shots."
The Tigers lost three starters from last year's team and are hoping to replace them with sophomores. While they are young, Stone believes they are ready to be contributors right away.
"I have coached these guys as the junior high coach for two years now and I am confident they can make the transition just fine," Stone said.
