Friday, September 26, 2014

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks has issued a Code Yellow Alert for B-negative and O-negative blood types. There is currently less than a two-day supply of this type on hospital shelves and donations are needed immediately.

A blood drive has been scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at Mercy Hospital in Berryville.

Donors to Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO) provide all of the blood for patients at 38 area hospitals. It takes around 250 donations each day to meet the area's blood needs.

You may also give from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at CBCO's Springdale Donor Center, 3503 S. Thompson, or at CBCO's Bentonville Donor Center, 1400 SE Walton Boulevard.

Each donation will be awarded LifePoints as a part of CBCO's donor rewards program. LifePoints may be redeemed online for a variety of gift cards or points may be assigned to other meaningful causes or charities. More information on the LifePoints donor rewards program may be found at www.cbco.org.

To be eligible to give blood, you must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health and present a valid photo ID. For more information about sharing your good health with others, please visit our website at www.cbco.org or call toll-free 1-800-280-5337.
