BERRYVILLE -- The Carroll County Community Foundation will holds its annual Giving Tree grants award ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Brashears Furniture in Berryville. The foundation is set to award more than $20,000 in grants to local non-profit organizations.

Funding for the grants comes from local individuals and families, said Janell Robertson, executive director.

"We invest their donations in endowments that provide a permanent source of funding for charitable causes in our communities."

The CCCF is an affiliate of the larger Community Foundation, which has provided more than $108 million in grants and local partnerships since 1976 to improve neighborhoods and communities.

Since 2001, through its Fall Giving Tree Grant Cycle, the Carroll County Community Foundation has granted nearly $202,000 back into the local community. Carroll County's affiliate foundation makes grants through the Giving Tree program twice a year.

Robertson is inviting everyone to come to the ceremony.

"It is a great opportunity to hear about the good work that is going on in Carroll County and meet the volunteers and nonprofit leaders that give of their time and talents to make these programs successful."

The next grant cycle, specific to programs that support youth and children in Carroll County, will begin in January 2015. More information about local Community Foundation grants is available at www.arcf.org/carrollcounty.
