Tuesday, September 9, 2014

A report of a drive-by shooting in Green Forest on Thursday night led to the arrest of a 26-year-old man.

Javier Garcia was arrested by Green Forest police. No one was injured in the shooting.

According to Green Forest Police Chief John Bailey, officers were dispatched to Garden Gate Apartments after a caller reported a driver shooting a gun from his vehicle.

"The investigation led them to another location to find the vehicle that was involved," Bailey said.

There, officers discovered the vehicle matching a description given by witnesses; inside the car, officers recovered a firearm and a magazine. They matched the gun to the weapon used in the shooting by comparing it to casings found on the scene.

Garcia, of Green Forest, was booked into the county jail on charges of attempted capital murder, terroristic act, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle.

Bailey said that the investigation is ongoing.
