Carroll County Health Unit changes immunization policy after overwhelming turnout

Tuesday, August 5, 2014

Carroll County Health Unit is changing its procedure for immunizations from a walk-in clinic to an appointment-only basis.

The unit held a walk-in immunization clinic recently, but the turnout overwhelmed the staff, with nurses treating patients from morning into the late evening.

According to Jim Wilson, administrative manager of the clinic, more than 100 people were treated at the immunization clinic. Many left untreated, prompting the new procedure. Patients will now be required to make appointments for all immunizations.

"We hope the people who we couldn't serve at the ... clinic can get served through these appointments," Wilson said.
