Jack Garrett, age 88, of Green Forest, passed from this life on Wednesday July 16, 2014. He was born on July 9, 1926 in Monett, MO to Delmer and Effie (Garrison) Garrett.
Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was skilled in construction and was a carpenter by trade. He was a master in all areas of woodworking and could build anything he set his mind to. He was never more at ease, more at home than when he was visiting with people and amusing family and friends with his funny sayings and pranks. He attended Green Forest First Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by his sons, Kenny Garrett and wife Jenet of Blue Eye, MO and David Garrett of Green Forest; daughter, Barbara Mead of Hollister, MO; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Faye Coker of Buhl, ID; his children's mother, Floella Swafford of Hollister, MO; and his special friend, Rita Helen Usrey of Green Forest. He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Betty Lavern, two brothers, and two sisters.
Celebration of Life Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest with Pastor Wayne Writer and Pastor Mark Bryant officiating. Interment will follow at Hale Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2014 at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest.
