EUREKA SPRINGS -- The Northwest Arkansas Jazz Society is kicking off the KUAF Summer Jazz Concert Series with two firsts.

"For the first time in our history, we're producing concerts in three venues in three Northwest Arkansas cities this summer," said Robert Ginsburg, NAJS executive director. "We're excited to bring acclaimed jazz artists to more people in more places."

The Yellowjackets open this 16th KUAF Summer Jazz Concert Series at the Eureka Springs City Auditorium on Saturday, June 21 at 8 p.m.

The band has won Grammy Awards for Best Jazz Fusion Performance and Best R&B Instrumental Performance, among 17 Grammy nominations. In all, The Yellowjackets have released 25 albums.

According to Ginsburg, "This is one of the few bands who can honestly be called a 'supergroup.'"

Tickets range from $25 to $45 for The Yellowjackets concert, co-sponsored by the Eureka Springs CAPC.

The Sons of Brasil will perform at 21C Hotel in Bentonville on Sunday, July 20 at 3 p.m.

"This performance will be our first matinee," Ginsburg said. "After all, some people prefer to swing in broad daylight."

The Sons of Brasil have made music together for 23 years and have played every weekend since 1991. Even though they all live in Kansas City, they've mastered the sensual nuance of Latin jazz, playing Bossa Nova, Samba and bold, Brazilian jazz like natives.

Tickets for this show range from $25 to $35.

The summer concert series ends with The Composer's Showcase. This perennial favorite will be presented in Walton Arts Center's Starr Theatre on Saturday, Aug. 9 at 8 p.m.

The Composer's Showcase spotlights Northwest Arkansas' finest jazz musicians performing original compositions in a variety of arrangements. Past concerts have featured the likes of Claudia Burson, James Greeson, The Fayetteville Jazz Collective, Rick Salonen, Matt Harris and many more. The 2014 lineup will be announced soon, and tickets for the showcase range from $25 to $35.

Tickets for all concerts now on sale at www.digjazz.com.
