Green Forest Alumni Basketball Game
The Green Forest Lady Tigers from the 1990s will play an alumni basketball game in honor of Coach Jim Goins at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at the Fred Grim gym. There will be a three-point shootout and youth spot shot challenge during halftime. All proceeds will benefit the James Michael Goins Scholarship Fund.
The 4th annual Rat Race 5K will take place at 8:06 a.m. Saturday, June 18 at Tiger Stadium in Green Forest. The race honors Green Forest native Tommy Ratzlaff and his fellow servicemen who died when their helicopter was shot down on August 6, 2011. Trophies will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in the race, and all participants will receive a finisher medal. This year will also feature the Bart's Dog Jog, a 1 mile fun run/walk for people and their dogs. Register by June 1 to get a race shirt for the event. Women's Shooting Clinic
The Ladies of Arkansas Combat Pistol League will hold the third annual NRA Women on Target Instructional Shooting Clinic from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at the Luther Owens Muzzleloading Range at 1300 Chafin Road in Berryville. The clinic is $15 and includes lunch, use of firearms, targets, eye and ear protection and ammunition. The league can take only the first 120 paid registrants. Mercy Hospital Meeting
The Mercy Hospital Berryville Auxiliary (MHBA) will hold an annual meeting at 11 a.m. Monday, June 20, at the Freeman Heights Baptist Church. Registration is at 11 a.m. with a pot luck lunch at noon. Carrie Stockton, Executive Director of Operations of Mercy Hospital Berryville, will be the guest speaker. MHBA scholarship recipients will also be guests. Time Award presentations will be made following the election and installation of officers for 2016-17. MHBA members are encouraged to attend and to bring a friend.

The Scott Family Amazeum will set up interactive science stations at all three Carroll County libraries on Wednesday, June 22. Happy Birthday Stroll
The Eureka Springs Historical Museum will hold the first Eureka Springs Happy Birthday Stroll history walk from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 3, starting at the Eureka Springs Carnegie Library and ending at the Fuller House on Spring Street. A historical character will be featured outside each home on Spring Street and give a brief summary of the home's history. Tickets are $25 and include a boxed chicken dinner at the end of the tour. Drug Court Program Graduation

Weekend Waiters' Race
The sixth annual Fleur Delicious Weekend Waiters' Race begins at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at Eureka Grill and finishes at Basin Spring Park. Participating waiters from Eureka Springs restaurants should be in front of Eureka Grill by 2:30 p.m. to sign in and should bring their own trays.
Movie in the Park
The Berryville Parks and Recreation Department and the Berryville Library will present "Justice League vs. Teen Titans" at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at the Berryville City Pool as part of the Movies in the Park summer series. Fun activities related to the film will start at 6 p.m., and the movie will start at sundown, approximately 8:30 p.m.
Retired Teacher Trip
The Carroll County Retired Teachers will take a local trip through Carroll, Newton and Boone counties at 9 a.m. Monday, July 11. The group will meet at the Green Forest Methodist Church at 8:30 a.m. and depart at 9 a.m. The group will car pool, so attendees are asked to bring their own walking sticks and other supplies they might need. The group will hike at Lost Valley, visit Alum Cove near Deer, walk down to the natural bridge and have a late lunch at Cliff House among other things. The event will be rescheduled if it rains.

Worshipping together as a family is a blessing. GriefShare every Sunday beginning Jan. 4
GriefShare will be starting a new 13 week session Sunday, Jan. 4. The program helps people work through the steps of recovery to a new normal. This Bible-based, non-denominational support group is for the people who are grieving the loss of someone close to them, whether it be a recent loss or a loss some time ago. Participants can join at any time as each lesson is self-contained. GriefShare meets at the Holiday Island Community Church Library on Sundays during the 13 week session from 2 to 4 p.m. There is a $15 charge for the workbook. Eureka Classic Movies every Sunday
The directors of Eureka Classic Movies will show films 7 p.m. every Sunday afternoon at the Auditorium, on 36 S. Main St. in Eureka Springs. Tickets cost $5 for adults, with children 16 years and under free. Metered parking is free during the movies.
Offroad Cyclist Club every Sunday
The Carroll County Branch of the Ozark Offroad Cyclist club will host training rides at 2 p.m. every Sunday at Lake Leatherwood.
Community suppers every Sunday
St. James Episcopal Church will host Sunday community suppers from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. beginning Sunday, Dec. 6. This is the sixth season of the suppers, with meld provided by local restaurants. Supper will be provided every Sunday during the winter season until March 20. The suppers are free and everyone is welcome.
Holiday Island Hikers every Monday
The Holiday Island Hikers hike every Monday, rain or shine at locations near and far. Hikes are rated for difficulty. Those hiking are encouraged to dress in layers and bring a hiking stick, water and insect repellent. Lunch is usually eaten out. Hikes vary in length, departure time and location. Free GED Classes Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays
The North Arkansas College and the Carnegie Library are partnering to host free GED classes every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Carnegie Library Annex. In Berryville, classes will be held Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bobcat Plaza. There will also be evening classes in Berryville on Monday and Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. These classes will prepare you with individualized study and tutoring to take the GED test. The morning classes are open to 16- and 17-year-olds who meet educational requirements. Meditation every Monday
Meditation will take place every Monday at 6:30 p.m. at 5800 County Road 3012 in Eureka Springs. The focus will be on Shamatha and Tonglen meditations. Shamahta is a calm abiding. It involves learning how to focus the mind one-pointedly so that disturbing thoughts subside. Tonglen is a practice of love and compassion that focuses on all beings. Farewell 4-H second Tuesdays
Farewell 4-H is an old 4-H club that has had many generations go through already. Farewell 4-H resumed meetings in October 2013. They meet the second Tuesday of the month at the Head School House at 6 p.m. and always have a potluck supper. We have over 30 young members and parent volunteers. The club is for anyone who is eager to learn about the country, or old-fashioned, way of life that seems to be fading.
