GF man arraigned on child porn charges
HUNTSVILLE -- Rickie Lee Asbridge, 55, of Green Forest, is being charged with 20 counts of distributing, possessing and viewing sexual content involving a minor, four counts of computer child pornography and 20 more counts of computer exploitation of a child, according to records from the Madison County Circuit Clerk's office.
Madison County law enforcement arrested Asbridge on Nov. 18 after an investigation found he had downloaded more than 20 pornographic images and videos involving children, said Sgt. Russell Alberts of the Madison County Sheriff's Office.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Billy J. Allred has been assigned to the case and in the information sheet, he has accused Asbridge of committing his numerous charges involving child pornography on or around Oct. 25 in Madison County.
Asbridge was arraigned on Jan. 7 and his trial by jury has been scheduled for April 8, said Phyllis Villines, circuit clerk for Madison County.
Asbridge came to the sheriff's office for an interview and was arrested after the interview, said Alberts, who was also the arresting officer.
"He admitted to the offense in Huntsville," Alberts said. "He came in for an interview."
The MCSO seized Asbridge's personal computer in Madison County after monitoring illegal content on a file-sharing network for local users.
"He had downloaded child pornography from an Ares network," Alberts said.
Alberts said the sheriff's office has previously arrested people for accessing illegal content on the network and that they routinely monitor that network for anyone in the area using it to distribute or download such content.
The investigation into Asbridge's alleged activities is ongoing, police said; he was released on a $5,000 bond.
