Berryville FFA officers visit senior center
BERRYVILLE -- "Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve." That is the motto of FFA.
The Berryville FFA chapter exemplified that motto on Aug. 15, when the officer team spent lunch time serving and mingling with the citizens at the Carroll County Senior Activity Center.
The 2013-2014 officer team consists of President Wayne Whiteley, Vice President
Taylor LaCour, Secretary Trey Neal, Treasurer Dani Gerster, Reporter Kylee Sigmon, Sentinel Ty Henderson, Jr. Advisor Justin Wilson, Chaplain Landon Stone, Parliamentarian Ally Teague and Historian Austin Lively.
These officers spent time at the center talking with the people, playing dominos, and playing billiards. Aside from playing games with the men, the girls on the team also talked to the quilting ladies about their current project.
Aug. 15 happened to be the day the center celebrates birthdays. The officer team sang "Happy Birthday" to everyone celebrating an August birthday.
The Chaplain offered to bless the meal, and after serving trays to the citizens, team members helped to pick up trays, wash tables, and even do the dishes.
The volunteer work was greatly appreciated, and it was definitely enjoyed by all. The officer team was invited back any time, and the officers will likely do just that in the near future.
The time spent with the citizens of Carroll County Senior Activity Center was beneficial in securing a bond between the past, present and future generations of agriculturists and FFA members.
