Wisconsin Club still going strong
HOLIDAY ISLAND -- The Carroll County Wisconsin Club met April 5 at the home of Skip and Mary Blandford for an Alaskan fish dinner. Alaskan salmon, halibut and Alaskan shrimp were served. Twenty-four people were present for a wonderful dinner and fellowship.
Skip is an Alaskan fishing guide during the summer. He and Mary lived in Valdez for many years and Mary had a B&B there. Happily retired now, Mary was from Ashland, Wisc., originally, so she was able to survive the cold weather.
In December the Wisconsin Club met at the home of Bob Hilmer, for a Christmas party that was also well attended. In February we had a pizza party at Geraldi's with money from the club treasury -- seems everyone enjoys getting together and eating.
Ahoy there -- our next outing will be Saturday, May 11 -- a pontoon boat trip to the Big M Restaurant for lunch. We will meet at the Holiday Island marina at 10 a.m.
If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Chuck Smith at 253-5136 by May 8. Ken Brown and Bob Hilmer will be the boat captains.
Tentative other upcoming events include a cookout at the Pavilion and a trip to the Steak Inn in Shell Knob, Mo. If you have any other suggestions, let us know.
We have about 42 members and as always are ready to welcome new members. If you have Wisconsin connections and would like to join our fun group call Chuck Smith at 253-5136. Annual dues are $2.50 per person.
