'Seussical' musical helps pave the way to Chicago
BERRYVILE -- The Berryvile Jr. High Choir is preparing for it's newest production: "Seussical Jr." The play will run from Monday, April 22 until Tuesday, April 23, at the Berryvile Community Center. Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $5 for students. Children under five admitted for free.
The play is centered around the Dr. Suess story "Horton Hears a Who," but there will be other Seuss characters appearing in the play, such as The Cat in the Hat. The cast is composed of 40 students from grades seven through nine. The large cast is split into two for separate showings, and each showing is approximately 75 minutes.
Cast members include: Emma Hill and Mackenzie Nance as Cat in the Hat; Aidan Seel and Seth Strait as Horton; Katie Kendrick and Jania Wood as Jojo; Amy angeloni and Lacey Mock as Gertrude; Katie Johnson and Melani Galdemez as Mazie; Victoria Evans and Christina Villaneuva as the Sour Kangroo; Joe Santiago as Mr. Mayor; Rachel Evans as Mrs. Mayor; Alexis Saldivar, Haley Fairchild, Alexis Perry, Patience Muniz, Hannah McCullough and Dakyn Clark as Bird Girls; Sarah Hale, Chantel Lively and Shelby Stracner as Wickershams; Aurora Edwards, Sydney Kastleberg, Amber Robinett, Wendy Rogue, Rhianna Lynn Michaela Drummond and Leslie Smith as Whos; Jessica Perry and Destiny Muniz as Yertle and Vladikov; Kelly Simon as the Grinch; Victoria Evans and Destiny Perry as set artist and Donesa Mann as the director.
The proceeds are going to fund a trip to the Chicago Heritage and Music festival for the choir, band and Berryville High School Barber Shop Boys.
