Former Holiday Island builder dies

HOLIDAY ISLAND -- James "Jim" Roger Duffy, who built several homes in Holiday Island over a more than two decades, passed away March 5 after a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Duffy, who lived in Eureka Springs, was born Oct. 7, 1948, in Gregory, S.D. He moved Eureka Springs in 1975, where he became a general contractor for 35 years, building custom homes in the area.

Duffy is survived by his father, siblings, wife, three children and grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held later this spring.
