BERRYVILLE -- Berryville dropped a pair of decisions this week, a 3-1 loss to Rogers on Tuesday and a 3-1 setback to Van Buren on Thursday.

Selvin Reyes scored the only goal in the loss to Van Buren on a putback after a save by the Van Buren goalie. The Bobcats were trailing 3-0 at the time.

"We hit the post four or five times," Berryville coach Don Earnest said. "If we could find a way to miss a shot tonight we did it."

With the losses, the Bobcats fell to 5-4 overall. Berryville returns to action Saturday in Harrison at the Remax Cup. The Cats open play in the three-team event against Harrison at noon and Siloam Springs at 3:30.

Jose Sanchez netted his eighth goal of the year for Berryville's lone goal against Rogers, a second-half goal to close the scoring gap. But it was all the Cats could scratch out.

"It was a knuckle ball that ate the keeper up," Earnest said. "It was wicked the way it was moving down."

The Lady Bobcats also dropped both games this week, suffering a 2-1 loss to Rogers and a 2-0 loss to Van Buren.

Rachel Lehr netted the only goal for Berryville on a free kick from 25-yards out.

"She just hammered it," Earnest said. "The goalie came out a little and it went in the top of the net."

Earnest admitted the Lady Cats were overmatched against Rogers.

"We were lucky it wasn't worse in the girls game," he said. "They are a little better than we are."

He said the outing against Van Buren was not up to Lady Cat standards.

"We just didn't play well and didn't finish well," he said. "We didn't move the ball well. It was just a bad game all the way around. They are well coached. They play hard. They are going to do things right fundamentally and they played harder than we did."

The Lady Cats take next week off for Spring Break, leaving all eyes on the Bobcats in Harrison.
